Our Framework

Classroom power dynamics directly influence how well students learn in a STEM classroom. This is especially true for historically marginalized and oppressed students. Democratic STEM teaching reconfigures traditional classroom power structures - whether in-person or online - through innovative, justice-oriented teaching practices that center students. Democratized STEM classrooms ensure that all learners master STEM in inclusive and response environments.

Our Approach

STEM Ed Innovators is "by teachers, for teachers". We help teachers apply our Democratic STEM Teaching Framework to thorny problems of STEM classroom practice. The resultant innovations in STEM teaching - what we call "Windows Into STEM Classrooms" - become part of our public WIC library. Across the country, our research-backed and classroom-tested programs successfully transforming teaching practice in every grade and STEM content area.
